Hey friends, diving deeper into our Tokyo trip, these days brought a mix of plan Bs turned wins, from sunny beach strolls to cozy park escapes. We navigated closures with ease, uncovering flavorful eats and artistic wonders that left us buzzing. Join us as we recount the highlights that made Tokyo feel even more magical.
Tuesday’s Pivot: From Imperial Palace to Odaiba Sunset
Our Tuesday started with high hopes for the Imperial Palace, but both the gardens and palace were closed. No sweat—we headed back to Ginza, popping into shops like Don Quijote and Uniqlo for some quick browses. Lunch was a standout at Tensho Kagaru Soba, a tiny spot specializing in chicken ramen. The standard bowl was hearty with intense broth, though it could use a dash more salt, while the truffle version was perfectly balanced and divine.

Afternoon brought us to Odaiba’s promenade. The 35°C heat was brutal at first, so we ducked into malls for iced lattes and a shared blueberry cheesecake—creamy and just right. As the sun dipped, we captured stunning skyline views by the mini Statue of Liberty and Rainbow Bridge. It was pure serenity.

Immersive Art at TeamLab Planets

We trekked about an hour to TeamLab Planets, queuing briefly before stepping barefoot into sensory worlds. Uphill water streams, light-filled rooms, ball pits, and interactive flower realms blended sounds, scents, and visuals flawlessly. For around 20 euros each, it was an affordable highlight that sparked our imaginations.
Wednesday’s Charm: Harajuku and Yoyogi Serenity

Wednesday eased in with Takeshita Street, a bit crowded and kitschy with waffle stands, but the Snoopy Cafe saved it—adorable merch, themed coffees, and tasty sandwiches (a backpack may have joined our haul). Cat Street’s retro vibe shone, especially the Ralph Lauren store with era-themed zones and matching staff outfits, like a time-travel adventure.

We wandered past the Olympic Stadium to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, where a light drizzle amplified the peace. Bridges, ponds, and greenery offered a true city escape—perfect for recharging.
Foodie Finale: Donuts, Roastery, and Sushi Heaven

Sweet treats followed with standout donuts: citrus-pistachio and custard-filled delights that won everyone over. The Starbucks Roastery, our fourth worldwide, spanned three floors—we watched beans roast, sipped fancy drinks, and grabbed souvenir mugs.

Evening peaked with omakase sushi: freshest tuna, grilled eel, scallops, and bold snails. New flavors exploded, paired with sake for a tipsy, unforgettable night—the best sushi of our lives.
